True Woman 2014 – Thursday, October 9 —
I hobbled my way to the conference after stopping at the local Steak and Shake for dinner with my lovely daughter-in-love and grandson. It was already really crowded. There surely wasn’t any way I was getting a seat up close. But, they had video screens placed throughout the conference center so that we could all see.
(The beginning of the conference from my own instagram feed)
There were bags on each seat that had the program, some brochures, and the “hanky of surrender”. We started with worship by Keith and Kristyn Getty. What a sweet spirit filled our hearts and the conference center as we worshipped.
Then, Bob Lepine came up and introduced himself, and the rest of the ladies were called to the platform to lead us in prayers. Blair Linne closed the prayer with a beautiful spoken word presentation.
Joni Eareckson Tada has touched my heart over the last 6 years that I have been dealing with chronic pain. Hearing her share the Lord’s heart for those who suffer is nothing short of inspiring and annointed. She sang part of “There is a Balm in Gilead” and reminded us that His word says that suffering will come and it is for our good and God’s glory. I Peter 4 is the key to freedom and Philippians 2:14 reminds us that we are to do everything without complaining.
Her session was most touching for me, as she reminded me that my momma is rejoicing in the presence of the King. She is healed! And, while He has called me to continue to walk through chronic pain issues, He is more than enough for me each and every day.
After Joni’s session, Nancy Leigh DeMoss gave a powerful and moving thirty minute memorized scripture presentation. The visual presentations that were on the monitors were graphics designed by Timothy Botts and were stunning.
We closed out the evening with prayer and more worship with the Getty’s. It had been a long day and we walked back to the hotel to get some sleep before a fairly early (for us) morning.
