Today is Day Four of “The Respect Dare” and it’s all about Vision! We are being challenged, based on the assessment we did for Dare 3, to write a positive purpose statement in the present tense, describing how and who we intend to be in our marriage in four months.

“You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!” ~ Psalm 139:15-17 NLT

For now, we are only to focus on our marriage with this purpose statement. And we are to use this statement, rewritten as a prayer, to encourage us daily as we continue our dares.

I will admit that I get really frustrated with writing mission and purpose statements. They always feel overly broad or too wordy. But, I am encouraged by this challenge to step out of my comfort zone and do it anyway. So, I will be working on mine throughout the day.

Keep in mind that the tense is this statement is current, as if it were already a reality. We are aiming for about two hundred words, and being as positive and descriptive as possible.

Jesus, there is nothing I desire more than to be pleasing to You. Please let me see your vision for me and let me see it through YOUR eyes. I pray that I will not be biased by any other point of view.

Father, I know that you have great plans for the ladies who are also following along and doing these dares. I continue to lift them up before you and ask that you would guard their hearts and minds. Please keep their homes protected as they strive to know more about you and grow their marriages.

I also pray for the other leaders of this dare to be anointed and have fresh words from You for those who read their blogs or meet with them. Let them not speak from their flesh, but only from the wisdom that You have shown them to share.

Let each of us be empty of ourselves and filled to overflowing with You!

In Jesus’ Name… Amen!
