Today is Day Thirty-two of “The Respect Dare” and we are discussing keeping our communication factual and not emotional.

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” ~ Hebrews 10:24 NIV

So many of my conflicts in the past with my husband could have been avoided if I had just stopped long enough to listen fully to him instead of assuming that he was wrong or just didn’t understand the importance of what I wanted him to know.

It is still so very easy to cut my husband off mid-sentence, assuming that I know how he is going to finish, and tell him that he’s got it all wrong and why.

I love how Nina put it in the chapter for today’s dare: “Too often we focus on our own needs and experience disappointment before we even have all the facts. A wise woman gathers information before responding to her circumstances.”

So, Ladies, let us be more diligent in our daily walks. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in all areas of communication.

How have dares 20-30 compared to 1-10? Has your motivation and outlook changed? Are you still with me? Make a list of all the things that are different about you now.

Father, I thank You that I can count on You finishing the work in me that You have started. I am still learning and have a long way to go. Please continue to guide my heart and my mouth.

I still feel daily like I am failing this respect thing. But, I lift it all up to You and trust that there is nothing You cannot accomplish in me. Thank You for putting up with me and blessing me in ways that I cannot fathom.

In Jesus’ Name… Amen!
