Today is Day Three of “The Respect Dare” and we are going to assess our current state as biblical wives.

“I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve.” ~ Jeremiah 17:10 NIV

The book asks you to asses areas that the Bible encourages us as women to flourish in.

Disciple – I have found that I need more consistent prayer and Bible study these days. Our home has endured various surgeries, family members moving in/out/back in again, and other stresses. As my health has suffered, I’ve lost my once strong quiet time routine. I am helpless without my time alone with Jesus. I am starving for more time sitting at the foot of the cross in fellowship with my savior.

Household Manager – My husband has always blessed me with words of assurance that this is not often an area I struggle in. But, with all of our latest stresses, I’m working on restoring more of the calm and control in our daily routines. Oh, and I have never been comfortable with guests dropping in unannounced. The Lord has given me more peace, but I am still a work in progress.

Communicator – I have become critical and sarcastic over the last year. I don’t wish to be and it is an attitude that I loathe. I have taken to the Lord in prayer that He would place a guard over my mouth that I would truly be quick to listen and slow to speak.

Confident and Assured Woman – I have great faith and my confidence comes from that place. But, I would like to handle life’s challenges and problems with more grace and less frazzle.

So, what about you? Be careful my ladies that your assessment is based on personal prayer and not on worldly measures or influences. Please do not compare yourself with Sister Susie AlwaysHasHerHouseInPerfectOrder or Mother Melissa MyChildrenAllWearMatchingClothing or someone else that comes to your mind. The Lord wants YOUR heart to be evaluated against His word, not some sister that you feel matches the ideal vision in your mind. You don’t know what they deal with behind closed doors. God hasn’t call you to walk in their shoes. Walk in your own shoes!

We should also not feel condemnation over these evaluations. Conviction is different – it comes from God and draws us to Him. Condemnation is of the enemy and only draws us further from a healing and saving Prince of Peace!

What area do you feel most led to improve upon over the next 40 days?

My Heavenly Father, I come before you today weary and burdened over many areas that I feel undone or inadequate in. I know that I am just a vessel that you are still shaping. I trust You to mold and shape me into a vessel fit for Your purposes and plans. Please forgive me when I throw my weight around and try to influence the movements of your hands.

My desire is to be the biblical wife that you have called me to be – fit perfectly for my amazing husband. Help me to work on the areas that need improvement and to be an encouragement to others to do the same.

I also pray for the ladies who are doing this study along with me to have the same vision of being fashioned and molded perfectly for their homes. Show them in the quiet of their hearts the areas that need to be worked on during this study. Show them where they are excelling and encourage them too. Draw each of us to you and to each other.

In Jesus’ Name… Amen!
