Today is Day Twenty-nine of “The Respect Dare” and we are going to talk about trusting God and being encouraging even when His timing is not our own.
“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” ~ Hebrews 3:13 NIV
Wow! I couldn’t imagine being in Sarah’s shoes from the story in the book. How utterly heartbreaking. But, it just goes to show that God can and often does things in ways that we would never imagine. And even when it is bleakest, He is still at work.
Sometimes we hold out so long for a change in our spouse and finally give up. But we serve a mighty God and He is all knowing. He knows just what the best and perfect plan is for our lives. We must trust Him with all things… even those things that we don’t think will ever happen.
Today, ask the Lord to show you what positive characteristics have developed in your husband over the last several years. Be specific and explain why these changes are important to you. Find a way to share these observations with your husband. Be encouraged yourself by observing the changes that the Lord has brought, and encourage your husband by noticing.
Heavenly Father, I know that there is nothing impossible for you. So, I know that just as you have been changing me in little ways for years, I know that you have also been changing my husband in little ways too. Help me to notice and appreciate those areas of growth. I pray that I would be an encouragement to him and would be able to build him up even to others around us.
Thank you for taking this lump of clay that I am and fashioning me into a vessel worthy of service in Your kingdom. I am not worthy without You.
In Jesus’ Name… Amen!
