Today is Day Twenty-four of “The Respect Dare” and we are going to talk about our quiet intimate relationship with our Lord.

“They may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior.” ~ 1 Peter 3:1-2 NASB

This verse is specifically speaking to wives of unbelieving husbands. But, I can say the same is still true in a house with a Godly husband. We do better to win them to Christ daily through our chaste and respectful behavior instead of trying to be their personal Holy Spirit.

Before the Lord blessed us with these four tubal reversal miracles, my visions for quiet time were always during times when my children were in school. But, when the Lord called us to submit our fertility to His plans, he also called us to homeschool the children He blessed us with. Back 10 years ago, I had no idea what that meant and still had these idyllic visions of quiet time with the Lord while my children went about their daily tasks. However, I can assure you that it is nothing like that and this has been a challenge for me over the last two years. My scheduling issues are compounded by chronic pain that keeps me awake at night frequently.

But, the Lord has been faithful and I am training my children to have a quiet time as part of their homeschool day. This allows me to have my own quiet time faithfully and also train them in the ways of righteousness. I would love to be able to say that I rise before the children in order to rest at the feet of Jesus in prayer, study and adoration. But, I would be a liar. The heart is willing, but the flesh is selfish and weak.

What does this have to do with my husband? Well, my walk with God and quiet time may look completely different than his. And that is okay. When I stand before God at the end of my life, He is not going to ask me why my husband didn’t worship the way I did. He is only going to ask for my accounting of my own time.

So, trust Him to lead your husband. Pray for the Lord to draw your husband regularly to His throne. Nurture your own relationship with God. Be sure that you are daily taking the time to listen for His still small voice.

Heavenly Father, I long to just be able to sit and worship at Your feet – to sit and dwell in Your presence. I struggle with juggling all that you for me to do and yet sit and be still. Please create a desire in my soul that longs to experience Your presence. Help me to carve out the daily time to spend alone with You.

Please help me also to encourage my children to seek and find You daily. Thank you for the tremendous opportunity and responsibility of training and educating them.

Thank you for my husband. I am blessed beyond measure. Draw him closer to Your throne and give Him a hunger and thirst that can only be quenched with time spent with You. I pray that he would experience You in mighty ways like never before.

In Jesus’ Name… Amen!
