Today is Day Eighteen of “The Respect Dare” and we are going to address loving communication.

“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” ~ Proverbs 15:1 NIV

If you had asked me three weeks ago if I was a respectful wife, I would have said yes. This study has opened my eyes to areas that I obviously still need to work on – some known and others that I never expected. Today’s dare is a rough one for me.

I have a very dear friend that has a hanging on her wall that resonates with me right now. It says, “Lord please keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand across my mouth.”

I need to listen more. I need for what other people have to say to me to be more important than what I think I need to say to them.

How about you? Has your husband ever asked you a tough question that you knew he would not like your honest answer to? How did you handle it?

Lord, I long with all of my being to be a pleasing servant for you. I know that you fashioned me and know my innermost being. Sometimes I fear the things you are asking me to change as if it will change who You have made me to be. But, I trust You fully and continue to pray that You would direct my steps each and every day.

In Jesus’ Name… Amen!
