Today is Day Sixteen of “The Respect Dare” and we are discussing being intentional with our encouragement.
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” ~ Ephesians 4:29 NIV
Nina is right! Much of our daily communication has nothing to do with intentionally taking opportunities to encourage our spouses or others around us. We communicate because of work or issues to be dealt with. We should take time to measure our words so that they are profitable for the Kingdom.
Would you say that your words benefit those who listen? Or, would you often cringe if you knew just how much of your daily communication was overheard by others?
It takes moments to tear someone down and be disrespectful with your words. It takes a lot longer to build someone up or undo previous harm.
Today, speak only words of encouragement. But, if you mess up, be quick to apologize. Look for and encourage the good in others.
Father, I lift this day up to you and pray for my tongue to overflow with blessings and encouragement today that wells up from my heart. Please bless my family through my heart and tongue today.
Bless these ladies who are also doing the study along with me. Please show them the areas that are most important in their lives. We all fail differently. I am so thankful that we are all redeemed through the same Savior.
In Jesus’ Name… Amen!
