Today is Day One of “The Respect Dare” and it is all about examining our expectations of our husbands and ourselves. Today is a day to release, evaluation, and start with fresh vision.

Unmet or unrealistic expectations can be very harmful in a relationship. Jesus should be the only one that we expect to be able to meet our every need. These expectations can also skew our respect for our husbands.

So, what are some specific measures YOU can use to show change over the next 40 days? What are some things you can choose to do or not do that will show new respect through expectations of your husband?

These are a few of my tangible ways I will be able to see and measure change:

  • I will refrain from making sure that my husband knows how to do things my way. He is a man and God is more than capable of directing and correcting him. I need to stand out of the way.
  • I will stop questioning his capability to drive somewhere. I personally have a habit of questioning if my husband realizes that he isn’t going “the right/best/my way”.
  • I will not butt into his conversations with others to share my own take on things.

There are bound to be more, but I think these are a good start for me.

Next, are there some expectations from your past that you need to let go of? What dreams/expectations of your husband do you need to let go of? I’ll be coming back to the ones I wrote down in six months to see what God has done with those.

Jesus, I am so humbled that you can and do use this frail vessel as an instrument to bless and glorify You while also being a blessing and gift to my husband. I pray that You would open my eyes to areas that I need to work on over these next 40 days and draw me ever closer to You. Please help me to release all of my expectations to You and give me a new vision for how to best serve You and my husband. I pray that I would be an example to my children that honors You.

Lord, I lift any women who are doing this study with me up to You and pray that Your will would be done and amazing miracles would be brought to light. I pray for each of the leaders of this study to be given fresh anointing and protection from You. Let us not stand in Your way or distract from Your plans. But, help each of us to lead in Your footsteps.

In Jesus’ Name… Amen!

Please forgive me, as I’m a bit frazzled today. I will be spending the day with our oldest daughter and new grandson, but that means getting out of here 30 minutes ago for a long drive… and a long day. This means that I have very limited internet access and couldn’t even get a pic up with this today. I “might” be able to fix that tomorrow. I pray each of you have a great day and also make sure you are visiting The Unbroken Woman to enter to win  gifts and be entered to win the Kindle Fire.
