Hello friends!

Today is November 24, 2016 – the day that we in the United States “officially” give thanks for the blessings we’ve been given. Of course, as Christians, we should be giving thanks EVERY day of the year. I just wanted to take a few minutes to share with you some of the things we’re thankful for.

Many of you know that a small farm in Northern Virginia is where we make our homestead. Our 10 acre plot has two homes on it – one for us, and one for Tiffani’s StepDad. The property has an above ground pool, a multi-stall barn, three chicken coops, and a large wood-fired boiler that heats both homes and gives us unlimited hot water through the winter. We also have plenty of room to run and play for 4 growing kids, Tiffani’s sidekick “Lacy” (English Golden Retriever), and our trusted security guard, “Sarge” (Great Pyrenees).

In 2004, we (together) made the decision to bring Tiffani home from the workforce as soon as we could financially handle it. She wanted to nurture and homeschool our children, and become the manager of our home. She had been asking God for the opportunity for several years prior, and our Pastor had even given us Psalm 113 as a Word from the Lord to our family. Tiffani hung onto the promises in that Psalm, and on February 15, 2005 (ironically that is Tiffani’s birthday), she went in to the office to turn in her badges and close out her employment. She still believes to this day that coming home for good was the best birthday present she could have gotten!

PSALM 113
Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the LORD,
Praise the name of the LORD.
Blessed be the name of the LORD
From this time forth and forever.
From the rising of the sun to its setting
The name of the LORD is to be praised.
The LORD is high above all nations;
His glory is above the heavens.
Who is like the LORD our God,
Who is enthroned on high,
Who humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in heaven and in the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
And lifts the needy from the ash heap,
To make them sit with princes,
With the princes of His people.
He makes the barren woman abide in the house
As a joyful mother of children.
Praise the LORD!

So here we are in 2016, and she continues to run our home & farm very well. She homeschools our children daily – including Bible time, and always make sure that they understand the meaning of “thankfulness” for the life we have and the blessings we’ve received. I am a very blessed man to have such a woman to share my life with.

Our life here is probably about as simple as we can make it, especially for such a tech-connected family. I am a SharePoint Administrator with a 60 mile commute every day, but it pays the bills and I enjoy the work I do. The long commute is worth it to me in order to gain the peacefulness of our country living. It’s great to come outside at night and only hear the wind and the crickets.

Today, I took a walk around the property and just took some shots to display the life and times at the SongSix3 farm. All the thumbnails are clickable to display the larger image. Enjoy!

Our newest addition to the chicken coops Larry, Curly and Moe hanging out in their field. (Actually, their names are Lady Ribeye, Pattie, and Brisket.) Our multi-stall barn. Sarge has a room all his own in there! A few of our many chickens out for a walk in the sun. One of our roosters keeping watch over the flock.

Here’s our buddy, Sarge. His breed, the Great Pyrenees, are known as “livestock guardian dogs”. And he certainly takes that job very seriously. He guards our cows night and day, and makes a serious scene whenever any critters make it onto Sarge’s side of the fence. He sure loves his family though, and stuffs his big ol’ head through the fence for ear scratches whenever we come out to his field.

Sarge can be serious… Sarge likes to play and even shows us his smile on occasion! Sarge LOVES to jump up on the gate for some head scratches!

And here’s the truck that Tiffani has been dreaming about for years. We were finally able to make that purchase this past week, and she is one HAPPY girl! Now I’m on the hunt for one of those bumper stickers that says “Silly boys! Trucks are for girls!”

The new family Truckster. Tiffani picked out this 2016 Dodge Ram SLT to replace the old van as her farm truck.

Lastly, for those of you who might be currently standing for your broken marriage, or even attempting to restore one that’s wobbling on shaky legs… Our prayer is that you spend this holiday season concentrating on what’s most important – your family. Our God is more than big enough to fix broken marriages. But it does take work on our part, and sacrificial love towards our spouse. Things may be painful for awhile yet, but if the two of you are committed to fixing what’s broken, we can tell you from our own experience – you have A LOT to look forward to!

What are you thankful for? Feel free to share some things with us in the comments!

In Christ,
Jason
