25 YEARS MARRIED… (continued)
We’re continuing our trip back to August 28th 1987, where I’ve just sat down to have a chat with myself on my wedding day. Tiffani is rocking our 8 month old baby to sleep in the next room, and I’ve got my own undivided attention. Hmmm… wonder how often THAT happens?!? Let’s listen in…
Marriage Wisdom – Tip Number One
First and foremost, get to know Jesus. Don’t wait until later. Since we don’t know the day or the hour that our soul will be required for our meeting with the Lord, your “later” may never come. Give Him your life today.
Dude, I know that almost every Christian you’ve had exposure to up to this point in your life has told you you’re a demon, and you’re going to hell for that heavy metal music you play in your band… but trust me, I’ve learned that there truly is a God in heaven who LOVES you. He created you, and He knows you beyond your wildest imaginations.
He wants to have a relationship with you like a Father to a son that He adores. He’s not the gigantic combat boot in the sky you’ve always heard about… the one who’s ready to crush you like a bug the minute you screw up. That’s a lie you’ve been believing all your life, perpetuated by well-meaning but very misguided people… people who haven’t learned what the word “grace” means. It’s time to give that one up, bro. That’s NOT the God I know! And since I’m “you”, don’t you think I’m worth believing?
The Bible is pretty clear that ALL have need of a Savior. Romans 3:10 says “No one is righteous – not even one.” Jesus IS that Savior. John 14:6 reveals this to us… Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
Romans 10:9-13 – If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”
Come back tomorrow for the continuation of this 7-post series!
